Some watches can be a form of expression while others carry useful and very specific functions. This Soccer Timer is one of the latter.
The Soccer Timer chronograph from Omega is one of the coolest (and specific) chronographs the Swiss brand has ever produced in terms of design and function. These pieces are equally known for their unique and colorful dials and the different sizes and colors of the sub-dials really appeal to us on a design level.
Upon closer look, the minute sub-dial has a forty-five minute mark, which is how it got its 'Soccer Timer' name. Referee's managing a soccer game would know when the half is over, since a match consists of two forty-five minute halves. It's almost always the small details that make for the best stories in watch collecting.
If you happen to be looking for a great alternative to the Speedmaster, look no further than this Seamaster, at a fraction of the price!
Since the Seamaster’s launch in 1948, it has been the vibrant, beating heart of Omega's collection. The key to its longevity, in part, lies in its adaptability. It comes in dive watch models, which were worn by professional divers (and James Bond), or dress models favored by the likes ofMad Men’s Don Draper.
There are also Seamaster chronographs like the example we have here. The Soccer Timer's were released under a few references, notably the 145.016, 145.019, and 145,020. All of these models were housed in cushion cases, with the Omega caliber .861 powering them.
