The Seamaster 120 is perfect for a certain type of dive watch collectors. Whereas most divers are oversized, inelegant clunkers, the SM120 is restrained, slim and simple (in a good way). It gets the job done without shouting at you from the wrist.
Omega has produced many classic diver watches ranging from the absurd (the PloProf) to the classics (Semaster 300). They come in all shapes and sizes, but none disappear on the wrist as well as the SM120 manages to do. With its 38mm case that comes in just under 11mm thick from case back to crystal, this is one of the most comfortable sports watches ever made by Omega. It was built to be a capable dive watch first and foremost, but in our casual world it makes the perfect all around since it so easily slips under a shirt cuff.
The cushion case is wonderfully retro, and the black dial with matching black date wheel is simple, clean and to the point. The bezel is well worn (this is a tool watch after all), but the watch looks great overall. Seamaster divers have long been popular among collectors, and the SM120 is seldom seen in the wild. If you’re looking for a great dive watch daily wearer, this is a nice choice.
